Essiac Tea

Four herb "versus" eight herb essiac?

Many folks ask which is "better"--four herb or eight herb essiac. Let's look at the truth.

There are two primary formulas for essiac tea used today. Here's a brief explanation of the differences (and similarities) the two recipes.

The "original" essiac recipe which was found by the Canadian nurse Rene Caisse in 1922 consisted of four herbs. This is the formula which she successfully used in Canada for over four decades. It is also the recipe that she submitted to the Canadian medical authorities in 1937 for their evaluation. The four herbs she used in this formula were burdock root, sheep sorrel, slippery elm, and rhubarb.

As the years went on, Nurse Caisse visited Cambridge, Mass., where she collaborated with Dr. Charles A. Brusch in his medical clinic there. During the time Rene worked with Dr. Brusch, she and Dr. Brusch would frequntly add small quantities of other potentizing herbs to the essiac formula. These herbs were added in tiny amounts only, and the basic four herb formula remained the primary formula.

After Rene Caisse's death in the seventies, a Canadian radio announcer named Elaine Alexander met with Dr. Brusch. She obtained from the doctor an improved essiac formula which contained the original four herbs plus small potentizing amounts of four additional herbs, which the nurse and the doctor had perfected over the years. Ms. Alexander later created a business to manufacture and distribute a brand of eight herb essiac which she named Flor-essence. Some confusion was created when she claimed that her eight herb essiac was the only "genuine" formula.

We believe both the four herb formula which some companies use and our eight herb essiac recipe to be valid and "authentic". In both formulas, the primary ingredients are burdock root and sheep sorrel, which Nurse Caisse prized most as the healing agents. Very small amounts of the additional four herbs function to assist the burdock root and sheep sorrel to do their job more effectively. The additional four herbs are blessed thistle, kelp, watercress, and red clover, in very small amounts.

Often times, people get confused by the fact that there are two formulas, and do not know which essiac blend to use. We have used and studied both four herb formula and the eight herb essiac, and have come to the conclusion to manufacture and sell eight herb essiac. We believe it to be somewhat more effective than the four herb formula. The eight herbs work in synergy to make our essiac potent.

The main factor is not really which formula to use, but that the herbs in the formula you choose are of the highest quality. Our herbs meet this standard, and when you order from us, you can be assured that you are getting fresh, high-quality herbs blended into eight herb essiac that has been giving people good results for years.

Please don't believe the negative advertising from some of our overpriced competitors that are threatened by our low, fair prices. Our eight herb essiac formula is not counterfeit or inferior in any way, shape, or form. Try it for yourself and see. We have a great money-back gaurantee.
